Getting ready for SSB&SO III

Hehe, sounds pretty cool when you are starting to use roman numerals for labelling the name of a family event. Although, I don’t think It’s going to stick.

Last year we had our first SSB&SO on ice. It was a pretty fun day of festivities and food. This year we will hold the SSB&SO tournament at the same rink as last year and when we’re done we’ll be heading over to my mom’s for a lasagna feast! Mmmmm… lasagna.

We’re In!

Some people know that we have moved, others may not. So it’s official we have moved in!

After a month of painting and other general repairs in the house we’d thought we’d put enough work in to the house that it was ready for us to move in to. So without waiting any further we moved in last week.

The unpacking is slowly happening, better get back to it!

White House

While the outside isn’t being painted or changed at all, the extended families of Heather and I have been very generous in helping paint ALL of our house.

While we haven’t put any colour on the walls yet, the primer stage is nearing completion. We’ve still got another coat in one room and a few more door frames and doors to prime.

But what a difference in the house now that everything is white!

Heather is working on the moulding in one of the rooms right now. Proof in the attached photo. Of course I’m pretty well out of the picture for any detail painting with my hand. But I can still write blog posts on my phone!

Let the countdown begin.

Aha! Did I fool you? Did you think I was talking about the countdown until we move? Sorry, I was actually referring to the countdown until I can take my cast off.

Wait a second? Cast you say??

Yup, you read correctly, I am currently wearing a half cast / splint type thing to hold my thumb in place. In hope of it healing within 3 weeks I’ll be back to normal movement and ready to move into our new home.

This is the first break (in this case actually a fracture) that I’ve ever had. While it could have been a lot worse, the way it happened really sucks! All I’m going to say is hockey… People need to realize we are there for fun and we all have to go to work the next day, so why chop a guys hands off?

Anyways, I’m about to go and see what I can do to help in the “night shift” at the house. Priming is almost all done which is nice, we should be painting the walls with colour on the weekend.

Yesterday was Canadian Tire’s friends and family event. My brother, now working at Canadian Tire, invited Heather and I to pick up a few things for the house. I’ll let you guess what we bought.

11 Days and Counting

This post will be short and sweet:

Including today there are 11 days and counting until we get the keys to our home! This is very exciting!

I am making contact with different people, like insurance, hydro, enbridge, our lawyer to make sure everything is on the up and up. Also to find out what to expect come the 14th. I’ve also requested some time off work to do some work on the house.

Can’t wait!

Up In The Air

Tomorrow night (doors open at 5:30, event starts at 6pm) Lifecentre will be hosting a few hundred children for its annual Fall Festival! This year’s theme is “Up In The Air”. If you have children and are looking for something to do tomorrow evening as an alternative to trick or treating, why not head out to Lifecentre for an evening of fun! The church was entirely transformed after the second service crowds cleared out to be airplane themed.

Come dressed as a pilot, flight attendant, bird, plane, Superman or anything that you may find up in the air.

Festivities include: games, airbounces, wrestling and so much more!

FREE candy bag for every child at the end of our evening experience!! Consider bringing a non-perishable food item for Joseph’s Storehouse.

He Shoots, He Scores

I thought it would only be appropriate to have a blog post about hockey, on my hockey themed and named blog! So here goes!

This weekend was a busy weekend for the Sullivan’s when it came to taking to the ice! Leading up the the weekend I played on Thursday. Then both Heather and I played on Friday for 2 hours. Saturday was a hockey/ringette rest day. Then Sunday we went back in to full boar. Heather played both a hockey and ringette game. While I played a hockey game.

While I can’t elaborate on Heather’s games, I can tell you that my game tonight went pretty well. It was the first W of the season for the MJF Gladiators. We only had 8 skaters which for an 11pm game wasn’t that bad. We started off with a goal on our first shot of the game (my assist). Then the following face-off, the opposing team, The Angry Turnips, broke in to our zone and scored on their first shot. Then the next face-0ff we took it right back to them and I scored off a rebound from my own tip. Not bad for a first shift! The game finished 6 – 3 for our team.

Well I guess it’s time to go put that gear away so it can dry! Good night.

I’m an “S” kind of guy!

It seems like Apple is going to release it’s iPhone’s in a Major, Minor, Major, Minor pattern. On Tuesday Apple announced the iPhone 4S, which to some was very underwhelming, amid hype that a new revolutionary and redesigned iPhone 5 would be released. No such device surfaced. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on the device because I am currently using the 3GS model, which still works great… I just want to take advantage of my hardware upgrade! … and get something new and shiny!

The new iPhone 4S looks the same as the iPhone 4 with the integral difference being whats under the hood. A new A5 dual-core processor, a new and improved digital camera and a new antenna design, said to resolve the antenna-gate issues of the iPhone 4 (even though Apple claimed it to be a software issue). The most defining of all the new features is the new Siri personal assistant, which while ultimately still being a piece of software, will require the processing capacity of the iPhone 4s’s dual core processor.

What does this all mean at the end of the day for me? It means that I am an “S” kind of guy.

How so you ask?

Easy, if Apple releases an iPhone 5 next year, I won’t be eligible for an upgrade at that time so I’ll have to wait until the following release. If they repeat their current release cycle, the iPhone 5S the following year where I will be eligible again, means it’ll be time for an iPhone 5S!

Looking forward to putting in my pre-order with Rogers in the next few hours!!

New Beginnings

It’s now been 2 months since we moved in to the basement at the Roth house. Which has been an awesome blessing while we looked for another house.

That’s right, did you catch that, I’ll say it again, looked.

As tweeted last week all of the approvals to proceed had come in (closer to the deadline than comfortable, but they came in none the less)! On Friday last week we received the financing approval from our mortgage broker and waived our conditions. So we will be gearing up for another move in the middle to end of November.

It is going to be a busy season, but oh so good when it’s done!

Can’t wait!!!
